Statistics in Research

            Statistics has been a vital tool in research. It is a branch of mathematics that deals with data. It involves the analysis and interpretation of data with a view toward objective evaluation of reliability of conclusions based on the data. I’ve learned in the discussion that there are three major types of statistics namely, descriptive, inferential, and predictive statistics. Descriptive statistics includes data distribution-central tendency and data dispersion. Inferential statistics includes hypothesis testing while predictive statistics covers modelling.             I also learned that sample size is very important and will affect conclusion. Measurement results may also vary among samples or subjects. These variations can be due to measurement errors and variation inherent within samples.
